Jane and I were down at the Manawatu River Estuary this morning and had the good fortune of finding AJD quickly. Jane worked the scope, while I worked the camera, and within minutes Jane called out “I’ve found him”. For just a short time he was at the front of the flock (over 200 godwits), before moving further back to a position he prefers. We were distant, but close enough to get a picture and read his flag. He looks healthy and well, so we are very excited, and now wait for his move over to Whanganui in December.
