Harrier encounter

The Australasian harrier is a very common bird in New Zealand, frequently seen as we travel through the countryside. I often stop when I see one, but it is usual for them to fly before you can get close. This last week I spotted one feeding on roadkill on the side of the road. I drove a little further on, turned around, and came back. It was enjoying its meal so much it let me get close, something that may happen 1 in 20 times. This was an old bird, judging by the amount of white on it. The last time I got lucky was a couple of years ago. So, a good range of pictures was possible, and I came away a happy boy.
