The Nankeen night herons at Upokongaro, behind the cafe, have been putting on a great show this nesting season, with 10 known active nests. This is a record and would suggest the small population of them is on the increase. With nesting activities, it means an increase in adult movement in daylight around the area, offering photographers great opportunities. My new Canon R1 is proving itself good at keeping focus on fast moving birds, by locking focus on the eye.
