Great to have a new Suzuki Jimny for birding that makes long trips more pleasant, due to much improved power and ride. We recently spent three weeks in the South Island and again I managed to photograph a new bird species for me, a drake Northern Shoveler, that we found on Lake Elterwater, south of Blenheim. A rare bird in NZ, they breed in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly winter in east Asia, with very few reaching Australia.
