For many years I've observed peafowl in the Whanganui District and recently came across a paddock with 32 birds, a mix of peacocks and peahens. I've returned a number of times and managed some really neat pictures of these amazing birds, with a plumage that excelled almost any other bird. A feral peafowl is extremely skittish and difficult to approach, but with a long lens I've got some nice pictures.
