For the second time in a couple of years, we've had a white blackbird around Whanganui. Both birds were first seen with just a few white patches, but 12 months later both were pure white. The current bird is a dazzler, so beautiful in his fresh winter plumage. Their condition is known as leucistic - they are not albino. This recent bird is in the city area, and on private properties, but the owners are happy for us to photograph the bird.
